The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET UG exam is for those students who wish to take admission to MBBS and BDS courses in India. NEET UG 2024 is scheduled to take place on May 5, 2024. NEET UG Exam takes place once a year in offline mode for a duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes. Courses such as MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, BAMS, Veterinary, and other medical/paramedical take admissions of students through the NEET UG exam. Candidates must be aware that NEET UG is conducted in 13 languages, and more than 15 lakh candidates appear for the NEET UG exam every year. 

The NEET UG application form was released on February 9, 2024. The mode of NEET UG application form 2024 remains online, making it easy for students to fill and submit the form. The NEET form filling process for UG exam 2024 reopened on April 9, 2024. Candidates who have not registered for the exam yet have the opportunity to do so till April 10, 2024.

As per the latest NEET UG 2024 notification released by NTA, candidates are now able to apply for 14 new foreign exam cities for the exam. A centre change option is available for the candidates who already registered for the examination. The following international cities have been added to the NEET UG examination centre list:

Candidates who aspire to build their career in the medical field are required to check the list of NEET eligibility criteria in order to appear for the medical entrance exam. The NEET UG eligibility 2024 is based on a few factors including nationality, age limit, and educational qualification. 

Candidates appearing for the NEET exam should belong to the following nationalities are eligible to apply for NEET:

  • Indian Nationals
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
  • Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
  • Foreign Nationals
  • Candidates appearing for NEET should have a minimum age of as of December 31, 2023, should be 17 years.
  • The NMC has removed the upper age  limit of 25 years for General category candidates and 30 years for reserved category candidates
  • Candidates must have passed their class 12 or an equivalent from a recognised institute and Board
  • Candidates who are appearing for their class 12 boards or equivalent in 2024 can also apply for NEET UG 2024
  • Candidates who have completed Class 12 or equivalent from an open school are also eligible.
  • Candidates are required to clear their Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Candidates having Biology as an additional subject in their Class 12 or equivalent are also eligible.

The NEET admit card is released by the National Testing Agency on the official website. The hall tickets will be released after the candidate has successfully submitted the application form. NEET UG Admit Card 2024 is one of the most essential documents for a candidate to appear in the examination. Candidates are required to carry the document with them while entering the examination hall. If in case a candidate forgets to bring their hall ticket to the examination hall, then he or she will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. 

The NEET UG 2024 admit card is usually released around a week before the date of the examination. Candidates must note that the NEET admit card was be released in online mode, and candidates can easily download the hall ticket from the official website of the NTA. Candidates must verify the information on their admission card immediately after receiving it, and if there is any misinformation, they must have it corrected before the exam.

NEET syllabus consists of three subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Candidates must have good knowledge of these three subjects from class 10 to class 12, as questions in the exam will come from these subjects. NTA will prescribe the NEET UG syllabus. Candidates are advised to go through the NEET syllabus thoroughly before starting their preparation. 

NEET UG 2024 exam pattern is released by the National Testing Agency (NTA). However, the exam conducting body is yet to release the exam pattern. It is expected that the NTA will keep the exam pattern the same for this year. As per the NEET exam pattern, the exam will consist of 200 multiple-choice objective-type questions from different subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (further divided into Botany and Zoology).

Back in the year 2021, the NEET exam pattern witnessed massive changes as the total duration of the exam was increased by 20 minutes. Each question carries four marks under the NEET UG test marking structure, and one mark is subtracted for each incorrect response. A total of 720 marks will be awarded for the NEET exam 2024. 

  • General category: 50 per cent
  • PWD category: 45 per cent
  • SC/ST/OBC: 40 per cent

NEET UG result 2024 will be released after the successful completion of the medical exam. The result will be released on official website. In order to download the hall tickets, candidates need to visit the NEET login page and use their credentials to check and download the result. Along with the results, the NTA also announces topper names, marks scored by them and the NEET UG 2024 category-wise cut-off marks. Further, the scorecard would include details about the contestant, such as name, roll number, overall percentile, All India Rank, qualifying status, and cutoff scores.

After the completion of the NEET exam 2024, those candidates who qualify the NEET UG cut off 2024 will be allowed to participate in the NEET UG counselling 2024. NEET UG Counselling 2024 consist of  4 rounds including Round 1, 2, 3 and Stray Vacancy. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will be responsible for releasing the NEET UG counselling schedule.  MCC will conduct the NEET UG 2024 counselling process for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats and the State Authorities will conduct the NEET UG counselling process for the specific 85% state quota seats. 

Candidates must first register online for the NEET counselling process, after which they must fill out and lock their seat selections. The outcomes of the seat distribution will then be announced. If candidates choose to enter the designated institute, they must accept their seats and report to the institution. 

They can choose a seat upgrade and take part in the following round of NEET UG counselling if they do not want to accept the seat. There are four rounds of counselling, and the number may change depending on the availability of seats.
